For our third weekend workshop, the documentary filmmaker Jennifer Venditti talked with us about the ways which she finds such fascinating people. Since everyone in the Twin Cities was taking shelter from the thunderstorms, we decided to head north to Duluth.
On our way we learned that Duluth was celebrating the 75th birthday of their most famous native son, Bob Dylan. While we never actually saw any signs of Dylan Fest, we did stop by Dylan’s childhood home. But far more interesting was Mike, the resident of the house next door. Mike is a die-hard Elvis fan (with little interest in Bob Dylan). After an hour regaling us with stories of his lady-friends, epic seizures and Elvis, Mike invited us inside his own personal Graceland.
