In the summer of 2015, we held a week-long pilot run of the Winnebago Workshop with visiting artists Pao Houa Her and Andy Sturdevant.
On our first day we visited the Temple of ECK – the spiritual home of Eckenkar, a modern-day religion whose temple was founded in suburban Minneapolis in 1990. After our tour we were given a booklet entitled Is Life A Random Walk? Using this as inspiration, we threw a dart at a map of Minnesota. After driving to the seemingly vacant farmland where the dart landed, we found an elderly couple who graciously gave a tour of their homestead.
At the end of the workshop, we threw another dart at a map to determine the location of our first pop-up exhibition. In the parking lot of a small-engine repair shop, images were projected on the outside of the RV while installations and performances were held inside.
