Japanese director Kunio Katō won an Academy Award in 2009 for an animated short along the same lines.

ironically, there is an installation here in town (the installation ‘ Palmsonntag’, shown originally at G in nyc 2 years ago) by Kiefer….or is Lester’s???….

The towers are 60-foot-high structures created from cast, reinforced-steel concrete that Kiefer has been building on his estate in the south of France since 2003. He’s cut two different photos of the towers together (they’re not really that tall) and added a photo of one of his World War II battleships as well as emulsion and paint. With an image like that, it’s hard to tell whether you’re going up or down. “Hail Atlantis.” I wonder if Kiefer is into Donovan?
