Great book! Glad it won a prize.
Any hints why the other two were elected? just curious…
And thanks for the lecture, you rocked the festival!

Looks like book has been removed from Blurb. Damn.
Thanks for the kind words ‘Tired.’ It was a long process of voting, discussion and revoting among the jurors (9, I think). Judging can frustrating process, especially for artists. But it is also revelatory. Democracy is messy. And art making is hardly scientific. I wish all artists could at least once watch a jury in action. For me it puts the whole process into perspective.
I was among the jurors and I think that the book of Chad was the most innovative, working with identity, secret and expectation of the observer.
Where is the link to the other finalists / runners up? I can’t seem to find it on the site.
PS: Very interesting book too!
Good advocacy work on that book, Alec; worth the second look.
I will say; the winning entry was a better “dummy” in that the way it was put together — its design, the paper selected, etc. elevated the material in a way the others selected for 1st & 2nd prize did not … and it was a prize for best dummy, not best portfolio.

Wow, seems like half the festivals authority chimes in.
Thanks everyone for giving a little insight, most appreciated!
This post brings a tear of joy to my eyes. Chad and I have shared many a beer in our time, and it’s wonderful to see him getting some due respect for his work. He is a man that constantly keeps me on my toes. Hats off and hopefully some dancing shoes on.
