  1. Looks great, I’m just on the wrong coast!

Is the trade edition of Broken Manual gonna be out in February?
I’ve had it on order from Amazon for a while and the release date has changed
a couple of times. Its now listed as February 15th. Realistic?

I need the trade edition go next to my (secret) special edition.

    1. Thanks Mark. I too was told the trade edition was coming out in February, but that no longer appears to be the case. At this point, I’m dubious that there will ever be a trade edition. I’m terribly sorry (and terribly disappointed).

  2. Good luck!

Since you’re opening your exhibition on Groundhog Day, what happens if you see your shadow? And will someone from the gallery hold you up by the scruff of the neck to announce the opening of the exhibition? ;^)

  3. looking forward to seeing it..will be right there for the opening and will go again after I am sure. I am big fan of Alec’s work. Keep the good work. I have also been waiting for the trade edition of Broken Manuel for months.

  4. Hi Alec,
unfortunately I’ll not be able to visit the show, but I just wanted to tell you that looking at the “Broken Manual” photographs on your site I really felt a lot of emptyness.
That’s all. Take care, all the best,
    Nicola Principato

  5. hi alec :)

late to the boat here…family stuff…anyway, hope you had a GREAT opening!!! and had fun and that no-one walked off with one of the Broken Manual’s under their winter coat (i might have tried)…also, sad to hear there will not be a trade edition…but, well,…one never knows with life, the lucky cats who got the original last year…..hope you have a swell time in nyc and hope you swing by to dah and get yourself a Caipirinha!…..

wish somehow your could get a gallery here (Bulger? since he reps many Magnum photogs) to show the books/work….

be well…and put on some weight! ;)

  6. When I first started seeing pics from this series I thought some of the photos looked a bit odd and out of place. But after seeing the whole show together it works great, really builds a strong narrative. Really like the vibe of it all.

The portrait above, of the bearded man in the woods looks like a painting in person. Really reminds me of the artist Till Gerhard. His narratives are coming from a bit different place but live in a similar world. Some images:
